Travel health advice from Preston Family Medical can keep you well while travelling

Woo Hoo – the trip away is booked, we’ve got the backpack, got the towel, got the new holiday swim suit – anything else we need? Well yes, we need to make sure we stay healthy to enjoy the holiday and stay well to return to activity when we get home.

With travel, it is often the boring things that can ruin a holiday rather than weird and wonderful tropical diseases – car accidents, falls, sunburn and gastro. All things that can happen here in Australia.

You must have good travel health insurance that will cover you fully over the time you are away. You need a policy that will cover you for repatriation to Australia if required. If you can’t afford the health insurance, you can’t afford to fly!

Travel Vaccination and Medicine

Of course there are some vaccinations for tropical diseases that can be great idea, even just for a short trip to Bali. This can be protection against gastro diseases, mosquito carried diseases. Do check this well before travel. Most vaccines need at least two weeks to be effective.
